What it is and common causes
A corneal abrasion is a superficial scrape of the cornea’s outer epithelial layer. It can result from airborne particles, direct trauma, contact lens problems or chemical exposure. Working with metal, woodworking, gardening or any task that produces small high-velocity fragments increases the risk of a retained or embedded foreign body and secondary infection risk.
