A burning sensation during urination can result from several sources. While not all causes are preventable, some habits can reduce risk: maintain adequate fluid intake, avoid holding urine for long periods, wipe front to back after toileting, choose breathable cotton underwear and loose clothing, avoid scented soaps or products that irritate the genital area, and practice safer sex.
