Who is more likely to raise suspicion? Risk factors
Risk increases with age and is more often considered in men over about 50. A family history of prostate cancer, prior elevated PSA values or previous prostate abnormalities, and some ethnic backgrounds can increase the likelihood that a clinician will recommend further evaluation. These factors change the level of concern but do not by themselves confirm disease.
