Common causes
Burning may arise from infections (for example, yeast/Candida or bacterial vaginosis), some sexually transmitted infections, urinary tract infections, or skin conditions affecting the genital area. Irritants such as scented soaps, douches, vaginal deodorants or latex condoms can also provoke a burning sensation. Hormonal changes—after childbirth, during menopause, or with contraceptive adjustments—and some systemic conditions may contribute as well.
