Reduced exercise capacity means difficulty maintaining usual physical activities, often with faster fatigue, breathlessness on exertion, or lightheadedness. Further imaging or blood-gas analysis may be ordered when indicated. Test selection depends on the symptom pattern.
General measures that may support fitness and symptoms include gradually increasing physical activity, pacing and rest, avoiding smoking and environmental toxins, and maintaining adequate nutrition and healthy weight — but these do not replace professional assessment. If severe chest pain, pronounced shortness of breath, fainting or other acute warning signs occur, contact emergency services promptly.
