Common causes of penile redness
Redness may be localized to the glans, shaft, or involve the whole penis. Frequent causes include contact dermatitis from soaps, lotions or condom materials; fungal infections such as candidiasis; bacterial infections; sexually transmitted infections; balanitis (inflammation of the glans); friction or minor trauma; and chronic skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis. Associated signs — discharge, itching, pain, blisters or scaling — can help narrow possible causes.
