What is muscle twitching and how it feels
A muscle twitch is an involuntary, brief contraction of muscle fibers. It can be visible as a small flicker under the skin or only noticeable as a sensation. Twitches are usually localized to one muscle or group, but they can sometimes occur in several areas. Twitches differ from cramps (which are often painful and prolonged) and from sustained spasms. If twitching occurs together with weakness, numbness, speech or swallowing changes, a more detailed evaluation is recommended.
