What is abdominal rumbling?
These sounds come from the movement of gas, liquid and intestinal contents along the bowel walls. They increase with hunger, active digestion or when bowel movements speed up. Swallowed air or recent changes in diet can also make noises louder. On its own, rumbling is usually harmless, but associated symptoms can change how it is evaluated.
