What are night sweats and how do they present?
Night sweats are periods of unusually heavy sweating during sleep. For some people this is a mild increase in perspiration; for others it can be enough to dampen sheets or sleepwear. To tell night sweats apart from normal warmth-related sweating, clinicians consider how often they happen, how intense they are and whether they come with other signs such as fever, chills, or unexplained weight loss.
