What mucus looks like and how to notice it
Intestinal mucus is a thin, gel-like fluid that helps protect the gut lining and ease stool passage. In stool it may appear whiteish, clear, or slightly yellow and sometimes as streaks or a coating. Occasional, small traces are often not concerning; larger amounts, sticky consistency, or repeated appearance merit attention. Mucus may occur alone or with blood, diarrhea, constipation or abdominal pain.
