What difficulty swallowing means
Dysphagia describes trouble moving food or liquid from the mouth to the stomach. Symptoms include feeling of a lump or blockage, coughing or choking during meals, changes in voice, or recurrent throat clearing. The problem can originate in the oropharynx (mouth and throat) or the esophagus (food pipe).
