What is confusion and how is it described?
Confusion refers to impaired clarity of thought, reduced orientation to time or place, slowed or disorganized thinking, and difficulty focusing. It can be transient or fluctuate over hours to days. Clinically it may appear alone or as part of a broader syndrome such as delirium; interpretation depends on onset, course and accompanying findings.
