What is a nosebleed and how does it occur?
The lining of the nose contains many small, surface-level blood vessels that can break easily. Irritation, dryness, direct trauma, high blood pressure, or inflammation can damage these vessels and cause bleeding. Bleeds are often classified as anterior (front of the nose) or posterior; anterior bleeds are more common and usually easier to manage, while posterior bleeds may be more serious.
