I'm planning a pregnancy — which department should I go to for routine checkups?

• Family Medicine / Internal Medicine: Conducts initial assessments for general health screening, management of chronic diseases, and referrals to specialists.
• Reproductive Endocrinology / Infertility clinics: These are consulted when there are difficulties in conceiving or when assisted reproductive methods are needed.
• Specialists such as dieticians, endocrinologists, and cardiologists may be needed for further evaluation regarding issues such as weight, metabolic, or cardiovascular risks.

During your first appointment, your doctor will assess your overall condition and refer you to other specialists or order tests if necessary.

• General health history, chronic illnesses, and surgical history.
• Your medications, supplements, and allergies.
• Menstrual cycle, previous pregnancy history (if any), and lifestyle (smoking, alcohol, exercise).
• Vaccination history and screening tests that may be done according to the doctor's recommendation (blood tests, thyroid, diabetes screening, etc.).
