In most cases the first specialists to see are Cardiovascular Surgery (vascular surgery) or Cardiology. These clinicians can determine the significance of the narrowing and advise on next steps. If you have neurological complaints or if the specialist considers it necessary, Neurology may also assess you. You can ask the Radiological physician who reviewed your images to explain the report if needed.

Bring your imaging studies (ultrasound, CT, or MRI) and the report, summaries of any previous relevant tests, a list of chronic conditions (for example hypertension, diabetes), smoking history, current medications, and records of previous surgeries or procedures. During the visit, the specialist will review your symptoms, risk factors, and imaging together to plan follow-up or additional testing.

Mild luminal stenoses are often monitored, with decisions based on symptoms and vascular risk factors; additional imaging or multidisciplinary review may be recommended in some cases.
