Key emergency signs
The most important sign is sudden, severe pain in one side of the scrotum. Pain may be accompanied by swelling, redness of the scrotal skin, nausea or vomiting, and abdominal discomfort. The affected testis can feel higher or in an unusual position compared with the other side. Any of these features developing rapidly should prompt immediate assessment at an emergency department or by emergency services.
