Findings that commonly prompt further assessment
New lumps in the breast or underarm, a lasting change in breast shape or size, sudden dimpling or orange‑peel texture of the skin, new nipple retraction or unexplained bloody or clear nipple discharge are commonly evaluated. Persistent or worsening breast pain can also lead to assessment, though pain alone is less often caused by cancer. Any new or persistent change should be checked by a clinician to determine next steps.
