What it is and common risk factors
Cervical dysplasia ranges from mild to severe changes in cervical cells. Persistent infection with human papillomavirus (HPV) is the main associated factor. Other contributors that can raise risk include early sexual activity, multiple sexual partners, weakened immune response, smoking, and some contraceptive histories. These are general risk considerations; individual risk should be discussed with a clinician.
